Elliott Rose Unterberger

Man. How do you describe the birth of your child? Expletives and emotions come to mind. And tears. Lots and lots of tears. In the four months since Elliott joined our family, I find it hard to travel back. Not because I can’t. Or don’t remember. But because so much has changed, there is so much to look forward to, and I am so thankful to have her in our life.

More Elliott after the break.

It started with a false start. A spike in blood pressure sent us scurrying to the hospital, where Lauren was told she’d be induced. Not exactly how we’d planned it. But it meant baby was coming, and more importantly, no more castor oil concoctions.

Turns out, baby wasn’t ready either. So, after a night in the hospital (or in my case a budget barcalounger) we headed home with strict instructions to rest up and let little girl do her thing. Two days and one foot message later, Elliott made her presence known.

With juices flowing, everyone relaxed a little bit. We spent the next hours chatting with family and watching basketball. Pro tip: have a kid during the playoffs. Trust.

As the night stretched the crowd grew thin, and soon it was just us expectant parents. We were told to get some sleep. “Nothing’ll happen” they said. “6am” they said. Come three in the morning, “it’s go time” we said.

The party moved downstairs and family came up to meet our little girl.

Elliott Rose Unterberger. 9lbs. 1oz. 04.25.19.

They say the scariest moment for new parents is the moment you leave the hospital. Nah. We boogied out 12 hours ahead of schedule. Best decision of our lives. You know, after making Elliott of course.

Love you little lady.

  1. Man! So much love flowing in that room that day. Took me right back there. I’m still amazed at how emotional I still get. Had to wipe happy tears away.
Elliott Rose still looks the same but cuter-how is that even possible? This is my all time favorite blog.

  2. Hard to believe how much she has changed in the past four months. Truly amazing!! Thanks for providing the opportunity to re-live one of the greatest experiences ever!!
