Flea

I worked so hard to get these negs scanned before taking off to Vietnam, and I actually managed to do it right before I ran out the door for the airport. Then my machine crashed… But I’m back, and it feels good to get these photos up from both the Pasadena Flea Market and Abbott Kinney. I’m thinking the various sellers, in their various booths, would make a rad photo essay.

4 Years

After 4 amazing years with my best friend, I knew I had to do something really special. Since we decided to ditch the gifts this year in favor of more meaningful cards, I racked my brain to find the perfect idea. A few hundred pictures and a police stop later (a cop actually pulled me over for not having my lights on after I took the photo outside of jack-in-the-box, no worries just a warning!), I had traveled to eight different places that hold a special place in my heart. I had a BLAST thinking of where I would go and how to take the pictures, probably spending way too much time matching things up, but the results exceeded my expectations. I love you Lauren, and happy 4 year anniversary! Continue reading

Dawg Days

These pictures chronicle the seemingly unrelated, but no less important, activities of pumpkin making and Dawg Day Drinking. And although this post comes far after the date of each images capture, it is nonetheless exciting. Why, you ask? Because (aside from the color prints) I managed to develop my first batch of B+W film all by lonesome. After tireless research, and moments of dread, I managed to sack up and went for it. Amazingly, the process went off without a hitch, and I cannot wait to get after it again. Saving money + new skill + hipster cred = One happy Graham.

Hexar NYC

Looking through the camera collection in the New York apartment, I spotted a dusty rangefinder hidden behind the brownie’s and polaroids. Turns out, it was Hexar AF, a sweet camera lauded for its super silent shutter and film advance (a quality that brought it cult status in the street-photography scene). This roll was my first black and white try, and I am suprised at the stuff I managed to come away with (I really love the last 4).

Shades Of Gray

I couldn’t be happier with the images I got out of my recent trip up to Seattle. I think they absolutely captured the essence of the trip; from Ikea to Pikes Place, everything was just awesome. And the best part? I get to go up again this weekend and do it all again!

35mm Laguna

After a headache with getting these puppies developed, and a few sessions scanning them in, I finally had my first B+W images from the Yashica 35. I’m seriously falling in love with that camera, though still getting used to rangefinder focus. Can’t beat shooting B+W film in general, there is just a damn fine look to film.

Nate the Great

A few weekends ago, Mr. Green decided that he needed to feel sand between his toes. After a mid morning bagel, chased by few Zinc teas, we set out to Main to try our hand in the sand. I brought along the Yashica filled up with a fresh roll of color, and had at it. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results, but hey, its easy to make good images when your shooting a little nugget like Nate.
