Contact | Ian

contact2Ian“Almost passed up.” “Happen by chance.” I’ve started a few CONTACTs with these caveats, and this is no exception. I met Ian on my lunch break while he was waiting outside my building for the Bolt Bus. His hat drew me in, but he was going the wrong way. Then he stopped at the corner and turned back. I made my move. When I raised the camera to my face, I knew he’d done this kind of thing before. Turns out Ian is the man behind Boy Gone Blog, and thus no stranger to posing.

More CONTACT after the break.

Hi Ian,
My name is Graham and we met the other day when I took your portrait as you were preparing to leave the city. I just finished developing the film, and I thought you might want to see how everything came out. I am super happy with the final image, and I hope that you’ll feel the same way.
I also checked out your blog, really nice set-up you have going!

Thanks,
Graham

Re: Fashion Week Portrait

Hi Graham,

Cool! Thanks for sending my way. For tagging purposes – what site do you prefer I link to? I see you have two. Thank you for the compliment. I’m debating making my blog all scrolling instead of having the four small preview buttons after the initial blog entry. Not sure what I’m doing there yet.

Have a great week,
Ian

Ian was the first street portrait shot with my newly acquired Pentax 67 (interesting because one of my first CONTACT posts was of William holding his own Pentax.) I LOVE the way this one came out. The tones, my reflection, the way focus melts away like butter. I’m hooked. Plus, the camera gets more than a few passing glances on the street. Maybe it’s the wood handle, or the fact that it’s MASSIVE? Anyway, Ian posted the photo on his blog and Facebook, and I managed to snag a few screenshots. Looks pretty badass blown up on the homepage, and a little less so in pink.
